This Privacy Policy explains how HappyVolts collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our websites, mobile applications, and related services.
1. Scope
This policy applies to:
- A) Our website(s) that link to this policy (“Website”)
- B) Our mobile applications (“Apps”), including:
- HappyVolts E-Mobility (scooter fleet management and rides)
- HappyVolts All-In-One (battery/inverter monitoring and energy management)
- C) Related support, warranty, maintenance, and customer service interactions.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information in the following categories (depending on how you use our Services):
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account and profile data: name, email address, phone number
- Communications: support requests, messages, emails, attachments, photos you submit
- Business/customer information (B2B): organization name and role where applicable
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device and app data: device model, operating system, app version, language, time zone
- Usage data: features used, screens viewed, session duration, interaction events
- Diagnostics: crash logs, performance data, error reports
- Network data: IP address and related connection information
2.3 Operational and Telemetry Data (Energy and Mobility)
HappyVolts collects telemetry needed to provide monitoring and fleet operations, including:
- Energy systems telemetry: device status, alarms/fault codes, configuration settings, power/energy measurements, energy consumption history, operational events
- E-Mobility telemetry: scooter status, diagnostics, battery state, ride/fleet events, maintenance and repair logs, operational events
2.4 Location Data (Precise, Background, and Geofencing)
HappyVolts E-Mobility uses precise GPS location and may access location in the background to provide scooter operations and safety features, including:
- Scooter discovery and availability
- Ride operations, routing support, and service delivery
- Recovery/anti-theft and operational logistics
- Service zone enforcement using geofencing (defining where scooters can operate, park, or be recovered)
You may control location permissions in your device settings, but disabling location may prevent some features from working.
2.5 Camera and Photos/Media
We may access your camera and photos/media when you use features that require them, such as:
- Reporting issues/incidents
- Documenting scooter condition or identification
- Maintenance/support workflows and verification
You control these permissions through device settings.
2.6 Payments
- Scooter rides may be purchased through Apple In-App Purchase and/or Google Play Billing.
- We may also offer other payments via Stripe (for example, certain subscriptions or B2B services, where offered).
- Payment processing is handled by the relevant provider. We do not intentionally store full payment card numbers on our systems.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Website, Apps, and Services
- Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and provide customer support
- Provide dashboards, monitoring, alerts, diagnostics, reporting, and operational tools
- Enable scooter fleet operations, including location and geofencing functionality
- Process purchases and payments (IAP and/or Stripe where applicable)
- Conduct analytics to improve performance and user experience
- Support advertising and marketing activities (including campaign measurement)
- Personalize features and experiences
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, theft, misuse, and security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements
4. Tracking Across Apps (First-Party Only; No Third-Party Ad Networks)
We may measure and personalize experiences across our own apps and services using first-party identifiers and events (for example, to understand feature usage across HappyVolts E-Mobility and HappyVolts All-In-One and to measure our own marketing performance).
We do not use third-party advertising networks to serve third-party ads inside our Apps. If we introduce third-party ad networks in the future, we will update this policy and our app-store disclosures.
5. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information. We may share information as follows:
5.1 Service Providers (Processors)
We share information with service providers that help us operate the Services, including:
- Hosting and infrastructure providers (including Contabo)
- IoT/telemetry platform providers (including ThingsBoard, for battery and monitored system data collection)
- Payment providers (Apple/Google billing for in-app purchases; Stripe where offered)
- Apple and Google platform tools/services used for distribution, notifications, diagnostics, integrity/security, and related operations, as applicable
These providers are authorized to use information only as needed to provide services to us.
5.2 Installers, Maintenance, and Support Partners
We may share relevant diagnostics, telemetry, photos/media, and contextual information with authorized installers, maintenance providers, and support partners to provide installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and customer support.
5.3 Legal and Safety
We may disclose information to comply with law, regulations, lawful requests, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of HappyVolts, our users, and others.
5.4 Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
6. Data Retention
We generally retain information for up to one (1) year, unless a longer period is required or permitted for:
- Warranty and service support
- Security and fraud prevention logs
- Legal and accounting obligations
- Dispute resolution and enforcement of agreements
7. Account Deletion (Email Request)
At this time, account deletion requests are handled via email.
To request deletion, email privacy@happyvolts.com from the email address associated with your account and include your name and phone number for verification.
When deletion is processed:
- We delete or de-identify personal account data (such as name, email, phone, and account identifiers), subject to legal/security exceptions.
- Energy consumption and operational history may be retained after deletion for system integrity, compliance, warranty/service needs, and security logs, and will be kept in a non-personally identifying form where feasible.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls and encryption in transit where applicable. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure.
9. Children’s Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. International Users
Our Services are operated from the United States. If you use the Services from another country, your information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date and post the new version at:
